Where to go on holiday In June
June signals the beginning of Borneo’s dry season during which visitors can enjoy the country’s diverse wildlife and scenery, or kick back on a beautiful beach with little threat of rain. Closer to home, it’s the start of summer in Greece and an excellent time to head for the islands of Santorini, Corfu and Crete where the sun is hot but the crowds of July have not yet descended. Indonesia is the ideal South East Asia destination if you’re looking for largely sunny and warm conditions and clear, warm waters ideal for snorkelling and diving. Greece
June marks the start of summer in Greece. The country has a treasure trove of Byzantine history, miles of soft sand and clear warm waters with unique coral reefs that make diving from the Greek islands a popular activity. Warm and sunny days with temperatures routinely hitting 30°C are followed by mild nights, and islands like Santorini, Crete, Rhodes, and Corfu are perfect at this time of year before the summer crowds descend. Kenya
It’s the perfect time to head out on a safari in Kenya, home to some of the world’s most famous national parks and reserves and a good place to spot the Big Five: lion, rhino, elephant, Cape buffalo and leopard. The animals are easier to spot in winter months as the bush is less dense. Agreeable temperatures in the 20s make it a much more pleasant time to be outside than in high summer, and humidity is low.

Borneo
Borneo’s dry season starts in June and the island is at its driest and most comfortable. You can spend your days exploring diverse scenery and kicking back on beautiful beaches, with sunshine, temperatures of 29°C and little threat of rain. Home to one of the world's most beloved wildlife species, the orangutan, holidays to Borneo are a great option if you’re looking to combine a nature and adventure holiday with a beach break.

From the granite cliffs and forested valleys of Yosemite and the sprouting geothermal geysers of Yellowstone, to the dramatic landscapes of Utah’s Mighty 5 and sunburnt caverns of the Grand Canyon, the USA’s national parks come into their own during the long summer days of June. The weather is at its best but temperatures are not yet scorching and although nights can be cool, rainfall is unlikely.

Indonesia
From the beautiful beaches and emerald interior of Bali to the exotic shorelines of Komodo – land of dragons – each island in the Indonesian archipelago has its own distinct character. June is Indonesia’s hottest month and the dry season means warm days are filled with bright sunshine tempered by a soothing breeze. It’s the perfect time to visit for diving and snorkelling with clear, warm waters, especially around the Gili Islands.

Botswana
With its superb game viewing, mesmerising landscapes and a wide range of camps and lodges, Botswana offers some of the finest safari experiences in Africa – pleasantly warm days in June makes this the perfect time to go. Spot lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, zebras and hippos, as well as herds of elephants drinking and splashing around in Chobe National Park from your 4x4, mokoro or motorboat, in comfortable temperatures in the 20s. Nights are cooler, but rainy days are unlikely and humidity is low.
