The Fairmont brand is synonymous with luxury and service and this Washington DC outpost has everything going for it, including location, excellent facilities, and salubrious decor

For well-located top-end reliability, The Fairmont Washington is hard to beat. Not only are the West End, Foggy Bottom and the boutiques, restaurants and cafes of historical Georgetown within easy reach, the hotel has everything in place for a refined introduction to the city. The family-friendly Fairmont offers 413 generously furnished rooms and suites and even the lowest-category features a full-length chaise longue, a king-sized bed (or two queens), a small dining table and a bath tub. Modern American food is served in Juniper Restaurant, and a lighter, all-day dining menu offered in the dazzling Lobby Lounge extends to a leafy courtyard. From the cocktail menu the BeeTini, made with honey from the hotel’s rooftop hives, comes highly recommended. After a day’s sightseeing, the quieter environs of the West End can feel especially welcoming. Head for the sauna and whirlpool, lap the indoor saltwater pool or work-off that jet lag with complimentary yoga or Zumba class.
