Shutters on the Beach

Stylish beach chic

Our fave Santa Monica hotel, Shutters on the Beach is the kind of place you want to retreat to every weekend. Think sun-drunk beach days and Pacific Ocean views at one of the best addresses on the Californian coast.

Synonymous with its name, Shutters on the Beach sits right on Santa Monica Beach’s creamy white sands and is a pad around in your swimwear hideaway of play and stay feels. The hotel’s pearly exterior of white balconies and dove grey stone reference its silvery surrounds looking out onto the Pacific Ocean. Inside, blue and white striped upholstery and crackling fires meet vintage boat hulls and hardwood floors.

Why we love Shutters on the Beach

  • Speak to the Beach Concierge to arrange surf and boogie boards

  • Use one of the hotel's bikes and cycle the coastal pathway

  • Join the daily fitness class held on the beach

  • If you are self-driving California, you are conveniently just a mile from the Pacific Coast Highway

1 Pico is the stylish restaurant serving dinner and weekend brunches. There's plenty of seafood on the menu including the hotel's signature blue crab. For a more relaxed setting, head to Coast located right on the beach or to the social setting of the Living Room and Terrace for snacks by day and entertainment by night.

1 Pico
The destination for Californian coastal cuisine and weekend brunch.

Coast Beach Café and Bar
The popular beachside venue for breakfast, long lunches and cocktails at sunset.

Living Room and Terrace
Serving morning coffee, light snacks and evening entertainment, all accompanied with Pacific Ocean views.

Save space for dessert at 1 Pico, especially if the chef's famous salted caramel popcorn sundae is on the menu.

ONE Spa offers massages, facials, manicures and pedicures. The fitness centre is open 24-hours although most guests opt for a workout or yoga session on the beach.

Explore Santa Monica's contemporary art scene with many galleries within walking distance, take a bike ride along the shoreline or stroll to Santa Monica's pier.

As well as an outdoor heated swimming pool, you are just steps from the beach where the Pacific Ocean awaits. Speak to the Beach Concierge to arrange a surf lesson or to rent a boogie board.

It is standard practice for resorts/hotels within the USA to charge a mandatory resort fee which is payable locally.

This fee can be anywhere between 5USD to 40 USD per room per night which is not included in the cost of your Kuoni holiday and is usually payable locally.
