Koh Phi Phi Holidays
Come to Koh Phi Phi for clear marine-rich waters, rugged jungle-clad landscapes and dazzling white-sand beaches with castaway islands on the doorstep.
Days spent snorkelling over pristine coral reefs and lounging on deserted beaches, evenings of dancing under the stars: Koh Phi Phi provides the perfect mix for those who like plenty of nightlife with their tropical idyll. Behind the name lurks not one island, but six – though only the largest, Phi Phi Don, is inhabited. The latter’s lively hub is the flat strip of land that connects its two craggy limestone halves, bordered on either side by the sweeping bays of Ao Ton Sai and Ao Loh Dalum, where outdoor eateries, bars and clubs create a buzz into the early hours.
For quieter moments, there are plenty of spots around the island where you can chill out on talcum-soft sand, swim in a dazzling turquoise sea or kayak to offshore reefs. For a real away-from-it-all adventure, charter a boat to the other islands, such as the stunning Phi Phi Leh – the location for the film ‘The Beach’ – where you can plunge into an emerald-hued lagoon and admire ancient cave paintings. Snorkellers and divers, meanwhile, will relish the underwater delights of Koh Mai Pai and Koh Yung to the north of Phi Phi Don, where the colourful corals shelter an endless parade of fascinating marine life.

Where is Koh Phi Phi?
The Phi Phi archipelago consists of six Islands in the Andaman Sea, lying 25 miles south-east of Phuket and about the same distance from Koh Lanta on Thailand’s west coast. They are within the Hat Nopparat Thara-Ko Phi Phi National Park, which protects a large marine area. Access is by boat from Phuket or Krabi, which takes around 90 minutes to an hour.
Koh Phi Phi Don
Koh Phi Phi Don is beautiful, with its dramatic limestone cliffs and lush jungle leading down to soft white sands. It’s deservedly popular, but the island has somewhat become a victim of its own attractiveness and it has become increasingly busy over years. Ton Sai – a narrow sandy isthmus that joins the two hillier parts of the island – is the main hub of activity. If you’re arriving on a ferry from Phuket or Krabi, this is where you’ll be dropped off, and there are many restaurants, bars, dive outlets and market stalls to discover. Quieter areas can be easily found around the island, with Long Beach to the east and Laem Tong to the north two of the picture-perfect favourites.
Koh Phi Phi Leh
Koh Phi Phi Leh is so breathtaking it borders on otherworldly. Due to its protected national park status, visitors are only permitted here during daylight hours, and highlights include the hidden pale green lagoon of Pileh, home to hundreds of colourful fish and turtles; Viking Cave where swifts make their nests; and Maya Bay (recently reopened following extensive coral conservation), which is enclosed on three sides by vertical limestone cliffs.
