Two Day Sepilok Orangutan Encounter

Go off track and spend some time away from the endless beaches in Kota Kinabalu for a couple of days and immerse yourself in the natural mangroves and forests of Borneo. Observe one of man's closest relatives, the orangutan, and learn about the work carried out at Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre to avoid their extinction. We can't forget about other Borneo wildlife that needs conserving as well, sun bears and proboscis monkeys, which you will see on this tour also.

Day 1

Sandakan

Your wildlife adventure begins with a flight from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan Airport, where you’ll be picked up and whisked off to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. In this remarkable rehabilitation centre, which was set up in 1964 to help orphaned orangutans, you’ll be able to get up close with the orangutans and watch them being fed. Later, take a walk in Borneo’s lowland dipterocarp forest and visit the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, which improves animal welfare and rehabilitates rescued sun bears. The final stop is the Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary, where you can see hundreds of cheeky proboscis monkeys. Transfers to the Sepilok Rainforest Lodge for dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2

Back to Kota Kinabalu

After a well-earned rest, enjoy breakfast at the lodge until your transfer to the airport.
