Holistic hideaway

Green-and-blue views and a treetop infinity pool. Sankara Suites and Villas is ravishingly rural yet only 10 minutes from artsy Ubud.

This countryside retreat is hugged by paddy fields and clad in teak wood and stone. It’s the fresh mountain air that hits you first, then that glide through an infinity pool hovering above the valley. Expect downward dogs in the pavilion and luxury milk baths in the spa. The 29 suites and villa interiors at Sankara are inspired by earthy tones – think woven elements and hand-carved accents – and typical wooden furnishings. We particularly love the deep soaking tubs in the en suite bathrooms (you can treat yourself to an exotic flower bath if the mood takes you) and the spacious covered terraces that overlook the surrounding landscapes. This is a great value hotel so we highly recommend elevating your holiday experience by upgrading to a Suite Pool Villa or River Pool Villa which both feature an infinity plunge pool on the terrace or a Royal Suite with Spa Bath.

At Laddu Restaurant, which is named after a traditional Indian sweet, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in an informal setting and with views of the surrounding countryside. The food here is inspired by your setting; you can sit down to a range of dishes that make up a Balinese Rijsttafel, a meal that people enjoy together is a family, or try some Asian seafood stew created using the freshest catch-of-the-day produce. Up at the Sunset Pool Bar you can order a selection of tapas style dishes and flavoursome cocktails or take part in the weekly barbecue dinner which takes place every Sunday.

Laddu Restaurant
Laddu is the main restaurant with a range of international and local dishes. On selected evenings there are themed dinners from all-you-can-eat buffets, barbecue steak nights and cultural dinners with a Balinese dance performance.

Offering a selection of tapas and cocktails at the poolside bar.

For guests in a Pool Suite, opt for a floating breakfast where a tray of goodies can be enjoyed as you immerse in your plunge pool.
