The beautiful Uga Jungle Beach commands a stretch of practically deserted white-sand beach and an equally tranquil expanse of verdant forest backed by a lagoon. Together they create an irresistible sense of privacy. The main building is set back from the beach, so there’s a short walk from there to the shore. However, this only adds to the wonderful sense of seclusion that emanates from this low-key-luxe boutique property.

Rooms
All of the 49 cabins are surrounded with foliage so solitude is easy to come by. Winding paths lead between the main buildings and the cabins. Lagoon Cabins are the furthest from the beach but closest to the lagoon. For more privacy, Jungle Cabins are ideal, while Beach Cabins have direct access to the beach. The Jungle Cluster Cabins have a small shared pool and are ideal for groups or families.
The Beach Cabins are made for lazy days by the sea, whether you’re on your private deck or wandering back from a swim to rinse off in the outdoor shower.
Nestled amongst the flora, Lagoon Cabins give views of the water and its prolific birdlife.

By the tree-wrapped pool, the resort restaurant serves a mix of international and Sri Lankan dishes made with seasonal locally sourced and organic ingredients, including the catch of the day.
You’ll definitely want to try at least one of the signature dining experiences, such as a barbecue on the beach with a waiter and chef to do all the work.

At the tucked-away Uga Spa, the naturally based treatments are accompanied by the gentle whoosh of the waves. As well as massages and body wraps, you might want to treat your sun-and-sea-affected locks with a Botanical Hair Spa therapy.
There’s a small fitness centre with cardio machines or you may prefer to hire a bicycle to pedal around the area, go for a brisk walk along quiet local tracks or arrange a round at China Bay golf course.
You could join a guided snorkelling trip to explore the coral reefs at Pigeon Island or go fishing from a small boat on the lagoon or on something larger deep out to sea.
A Travelife Gold Certified resort for its commitment to a broad range of sustainability measures since April 2021. The cabins were built using mostly native natural materials and positioned to cause minimal disturbance to the existing plantlife. It was the first resort of its kind in the area, providing employment and training opportunities for the local community. The restaurant menu changes regularly to make the most of whatever is in season or what the local fishermen have caught.
The Jungle Cluster Cabins, the range of activities and experiences, and the flexible menus are all great for families.

There are a couple of reservations about this place which I'll get to shortly, but overall it is fantastic. The beach is beautiful with clear, warm turquoise water. You can see a couple of miles in each direction along the coast but you won't see anyone. Beautifully secluded, and never any trouble getting a lounger and umbrella. The rooms are individual cabins apart for the lagoon cabins which are two to a building, one above the other. The rooms are large, wall appointed and very clean. Beach and jungle cabins have outdoor showers which are nice. The restaurant is very good, and the lady who manages front of house is really pleasant and efficient. Service in general is very good - even in the short time we were there the staff got to know us and our preferences. We had the beach barbecue, did the cooking course with the chef Pradeep and visited Pigeon Island, all of which were great. The only gripes would be that some parts of the buildings are looking a bit tired and could do with a refresh. Also the wine is very expensive - over $70 with tax and service for a bottle of Yellow Tail Chardonnay seems a bit steep. Those points aside, it really is a very special place and we had a great time.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at this wonderful hotel. As we drove in, we just knew that we had made the correct choice. The staff was most attentive, helpful, polite, and always smiling. They go above and beyond to make sure you have the best stay possible. The chef Chandika gave very special attention to all guests during every meal. The tranquil and serene environment of the hotel is just the best if one likes to wind down. Amazing beach and pool. We would, without hesitation, recommend the place to all my friends and family. I drove an electric car, and the staff promptly assisted me with a plug to connect my EV for charging. We had a memorable 3 nights.

My wife and I stayed in a beach front room. The room is spacious. It has private footpath to the beach. The view extraordinary. The staffs are very friendly, especially the lifeguard Chandana was more helpful. The hotel has two swimming pool, one is 4 ft deep and the other is 2 ft. The water is cristal clear.
