Coco Bodu Hithi

Chic elegance, Maldives style

A calm and serene island where every villa has a private pool.

Coco Bodu Hithi is the stuff of Maldivian dreams with its soft sand shores and clear waters that host colourful sea life. All the villas are generously proportioned, each with a private pool and outdoor deck – the perfect set-up if you’re looking for a proper retreat.

When you’re ready to get to know the wider resort, follow the sand paths that wind around the island to sip an icy drink beside the infinity pool, or sink deeper into relaxation in the thatched overwater spa. Come evening, your most pressing decision is whether to dine on the local catch or try the excellent Japanese restaurant.

Why we love Coco Bodu Hithi

  • The sea life is sensational, with opportunities to spot dolphin pods, turtles, and manta rays.

  • You can practice yoga in specially designed overwater pavilions.

  • Watch movies under the stars at the weekly beach cinema.

  • Sip fine wines from a 200-strong selection in the Wine Loft.

Air, an elegant all-day dining restaurant with views of the lagoon, will be your main go-to when you’re on holiday here, but there are other options to mix things up. Romantic Aqua serves up seafood specialities with Asian flavours, Tsuki is an authentic sushi bar, and Stars is where you get the best sunset view. Although the villas are so inviting at Coco Bodu Hithi, a private dinner on your deck may prove just as tempting.

Air
The resort’s main restaurant has recently been refreshed serves an expansive buffet breakfast. Lunch is a la carte, and buffets celebrate Indian, Arabian, Italian, or French cuisine at dinnertime. On Fridays, local chefs travel to the island to create speciality Maldivian dishes.

Aqua
A dinner-only, fine dining restaurant sitting over the water. Aqua’s chefs showcase Southeast Asian flavours in a seasonal menu focused on the day’s local seafood catch.

Latitude
Perfectly positioned for sundowners, Latitude is the resort’s beach and cocktail bar. It also serves a light menu, including stone-baked pizzas, wraps and sandwiches.

Stars
Part bar, part restaurant, Stars is where you can spend an entire evening relaxing. It’s also open for a la carte breakfast and lunch, or pop in for a mid-morning coffee or afternoon refreshment.

Tsuki
Savour the best of Japanese dishes at Tsuki, a sophisticated venue where you can choose to dine inside or out or find a spot at the sushi bar to watch the chefs at work.

Wine Loft
More than 200 global wines to peruse with a sommelier team on hand to recommend and serve wines, or guests can simply browse to find a favourite.

Sip a champagne cocktail, listen to live music, and watch the sun go down at Latitude.

The Coco Dive centre stands ready to help beginner and expert divers experience the sensational marine life. Free introductory dives are available for first-timers to see if they want to learn more, and there are various courses for different abilities. Twenty-six dive sites give plenty of options, and the nearest is reached in five minutes by boat. You might spot hawksbill turtles, grey reef sharks, and eagle rays, and spot manta rays between November and March.

Take a gentle snorkel around the house reef or join the resort’s marine biologist for coral garden snorkelling.

Power boating and jet skiing are available, plus water skiing, windsurfing, parasailing, big game fishing, and wake and knee boarding. Maldives sailing, paddle boarding, and kayaking offer something gentler.

Since 2012, the resident marine biology team has taken naturally broken pieces of coral and re-planted them in the island’s lagoon. The herb gardens provide organic, home-grown herbs, fruits, and vegetables. Not only is the harvest fresher, but it reduces the impact of food miles by not importing these ingredients.

Coco Dreams Green is a pledge to significantly reduce the amount of single-use plastic at Coco Bodu Hithi. The resort uses paper straws and has replaced in-villa amenities with those made from natural materials, such as wooden toothbrushes and cotton buds made without plastic.

Coco Residence Club benefits are not available on free upgrades.
