Spice Village – A CGH Earth Hotel

Spice Village is a wonderful eco-friendly property.
One of the hotel’s unique aspects is its close proximity to the Periyar Tiger Reserve where you can embark on all sorts of naturalist-led activities including forest walks, bamboo river rafting and even night trekking. The park is home to 120 bird species, Malabar giant tree squirrels and elephants. It's also worth visiting the Interpretation Centre which is filled with exhibits on the local flora and fauna of the region. After taking a spice plantation tour, learn the skills of how to use them with a cookery lesson with the chef or try a treatment in the Ayurvedic centre or cool off in the chemical-free swimming pool.

Facilities
Organic and ethically sourced dishes are served in the resort's two main restaurants. Dishes include spiced quail and cardamom chicken curry and a huge range of thalis, a signature regional dish. After dinner, visit the bar where the 100-year old billiards table is the central feature.

To reduce their carbon footprint, the dishes served at the restaurant are part of ‘The 50 Mile Diet’ with ingredients sourced within 50 miles of the resort and from the hotel’s own organic garden.

Explore spice plantations by e-bike, go trekking in Periyar Tiger Reserve, make notebooks in the Handmade Paper Making Centre and learn how to use spices with a cooking lesson with the chef.
As with other CGH Earth accommodation, Spice Village uses solar energy, has stopped the use of single-use plastics and makes gift products from recycled paper. Continuing the hotel’s philosophy of using renewable products wherever possible, you’ll find coir mats on the stone floor and furniture made from recycled wood.
