Domes Zeen Chania, A Luxury Collection Resort, Crete

A laid-back retreat with local culture at the heart

This peaceful and luxurious Cretan retreat puts a modern spin on rustic design and has a ‘living well’ philosophy at its core.

This serene retreat has been inspired by the cool but laid-back beach retreats that line Mexico’s Tulum coastline. It’s all about bohemian luxury here, with sandy tones and natural materials, updated with a 21st-century vibe – think minimalistic clean lines, exposed concrete and accents of grey. It manages to cater equally well to both families and couples, and there’s a real emphasis on living like a local thanks to a collection of authentic experiences designed by island insiders. You can visit a local vineyard and olive farm to taste their produce, get hands-on during a ceramics workshop guided by an expert or take a tour of Chania’s characterful Old Town on foot. Back at the resort, there’s a great kids’ club with cool yurts and teepees, as well as the soothing Jungle Spa – an open-air paradise where muscle-melting massages and rejuvenating treatments are on hand to lull you into a daze.

Why we love Domes Zeen Chania, A Luxury Collection Resort, Crete

  • It’s ideally located for exploring the city of Chania, with its charming Old Town a 13-minute drive away.

  • There’s a focus on local culture, with daily and weekly ‘Epicurean Moments’ and ‘Be Authentic’ experiences offered around the resort to give you a glimpse into local life – from Cretan treats to hands-on artisan demonstrations.

  • The resort has also curated a number of experiences – think olive oil and wine tasting, ceramic workshops and hiking in the Samaria Gorge.

  • It caters to both couples and families, with stylish accommodation to suit honeymooners through to multi-gen families. Residences and villas come with their own private pool, while some rooms come with a shared one.
