Nantipa is a beautiful bolthole that’s hidden in the palms on the edge of the Pacific Ocean.
The shades of the sky and sea come together at Nantipa (the ancestral Chorotegan word for blue), which is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. This jungle-meets-Pacific haven is something of a hidden gem, where days are spent barefoot as you relax on the beach or by the pool, out on adventurous explorations or just chilling in nearby Santa Teresa: a remote yet hip town favoured by expats where you could be rubbing shoulders with an A-lister or two. Down by the beach, hammocks stretch between palm trees and sun loungers and inviting pillows are scattered in the leaves’ shade; head here for un unforgettable Pacific sunset.

Rooms
Clean lines, light wood and neutral tones, crisp white sheets, statement lights all combine to create a calming space to retreat to each evening. Floor-to-ceiling windows and glass doors bring the greens and blues of the outside in and lead to inviting balconies or terraces. There are beautiful suites which can comfortably accommodate a family of four, bungalows which have a plunge pool on the terrace, and a stunning three-bedroom villa that’s just steps from the beach.

Both Tico and international dishes are created in open kitchens at Manzú, the down-to-earth eatery that’s only a short walk from the shore. If you’re seeking some romance during your visit, you can arrange dinner under the stars, feet-in-the-sand style, or dip your feet in the water during a pool dinner.

Sustainability is a way of life at low-impact Nantipa, with both simple initiatives, such as the reduction of single-use, to more significant implementations like solar powered water heaters in each room and waste water treatment. Employment prioritises those who live in local communities and, where possible, produce like seafood, bread and veggies are sourced from local producers and small businesses.
