Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort

Art and style on soft white sands

This luxurious haven showcases the island’s natural beauty.

Follow a winding road through the rainforest to discover a tropical paradise, where platinum sands are framed by the dramatic Piton Mountains. This former sugar plantation has been transformed into a sleek resort with white-washed villas, ideal for both couples and families, tucked into the hillside. Whether you fancy an icy mojito or want to book a romantic dinner, your butler is on hand to make the arrangements. Go snorkelling in search of colourful marine life or stroll along wooden walkways to the enchanting Rainforest Spa, where treehouse treatment cabanas offer a wealth of indulgent treatments.

Why we love Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort

  • The resort has an impressive art collection with originals from the likes of Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, and Banksy

  • Beach clean ups, coral restoration and tree planting are just some of the sustainability initiatives that guests can join in with

  • A huge choice of cottages, bungalows, villas and residences – all with plunge pools and private butler service

  • Escaping to the spa is even more of a treat than usual thanks to its incredible rainforest setting

The heavenly Rainforest Spa offers a unique setting and a full range of nourishing treatments using ingredients sourced from the island’s volcanic springs and plantations such as banana, coconut, aloe vera and cocoa butter. Signature treatments include bamboo massages, hot rock therapies, facials, body wraps, salt scrubs, polishes, and holistic treatments.

There are seven treehouse treatment rooms, a wetroom with manicure and pedicure facilities, a relaxation pavilion and an earthen Amerindian steam dome - known as a temascal - which reconnects the spa to the island’s earliest settlers. There is also a beauty suite which specialises in CACI treatments and Environ facials which are renowned for their superb bridal make-up and hair services.

Take a look at the impressive collection of modern art, join a regular fitness class, play a game of tennis, table tennis, beach volleyball or pool. Once a week you can meet the Sugar Beach team over cocktails and indulge in chocolate and rum tastings.

Explore the surrounding coastline on a kayak, paddleboard or by Hobie Cat. Grab some snorkel gear for a glimpse into the underwater world of the marine park. Try an introductory dive or, for experienced divers, there are numerous sites within easy reach of the resort, including the Lesleen M Wreck, The Coral Garden and Piton Wall.

There are plenty of sustainable initiatives at Sugar Beach to conserve energy, water and resources.

The Sugar Club offers a range of supervised activities for children from the age of 4 to 12 including tree planting, cookie making, sandcastle building and fish feeding. Older children can engage with the Spice Club where kayaking, paddle boarding are part of the fun,

Most of the accommodation at Sugar Beach is set in individual properties that are ideal for families to spread out in, and all rooms have a private plunge pool and butler service. Superior Luxury Cottages sleep two adults, plus two children under 11 in a separate living room with a sofa bed. Cots are also available. For larger groups and older children, we recommend the multiple-bedroom residences. The largest are the Four- Bedroom Luxury Residences, which sleep up to eight – nine with a cot – and have infinity-edge pools big enough for everyone.

Close-by Soufrière is home to an adventure park that’s cross-hatched with zip lines* and horseback riding trails*. The area also lays claim to the world’s only drive-in volcano, which is surrounded by bubbling sulphur springs, and the Tet Paul Nature Trail – an easy 45-minute hike offering incredible views.

Due to its hillside setting this resort is only suitable for those with full mobility.

Minimum stay: 7 nights 22-31 Dec.

Room categories from Superior Luxury Cottages and above can accommodate children together with parents.
