Blue Mountains & Hunter Valley Holidays
Delve deeper into Sydney’s surrounding regions, where renowned world-class wineries meet dramatic World Heritage-listed mountain scenery.
We know that Sydney’s its breakout star – but this southeastern state has a fantastic mountain region too. Home to some of the most postcard-perfect views in the whole of Australia, the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park is just two hours from the city. Thanks to the huge eucalyptus forests, it’s a region that’s become known for its hazy blue appearance – but it’s the towering rock formations and deep eroded valleys that really make you catch a breath. Stop at the Echo Point Lookout for mind-blowing views of the Three Sisters and see the world’s steepest railway in Jamison Valley.
For a totally different experience, drive just three hours from Sydney to reach the 150-plus wineries of the world-famous Hunter Valley. From simple cellar door tastings to guided tours of internationally recognised estates, this gorgeous wine region has something to suit everyone.

Where is Blue Mountains & Hunter Valley?
The Blue Mountains & Hunter Valley are located in New South Wales in eastern Australia. Both regions are perfect extensions to a stay in the state’s capital, Sydney and can be reached in a 2-hour drive.
The Blue Mountains
Just two hours from Sydney lies the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park. Blue due to the eucalyptus haze in the air, the region is home to dramatic rock formations, walking trails and pretty villages. Katoomba is the most visited town and the location of the Blue Mountains’ most famous attraction: the Three Sisters. Scenic World has the world’s steepest railway, a cable car and a skyway. Visit on a guided day tour, by train or as part of a self-drive itinerary.
Hunter Valley
This beautiful region plays host to over 120 wineries, offering everything from cellar door tastings at boutiques to tours of larger, international establishments. Sample Verdelho, Semillon, Shiraz and Chardonnay amongst others. The Hunter Valley wineries are refreshingly unstuffy – perfect for first-time wine tastings but also excellent for oenophiles due to the sheer variety. Some wineries offer tastings of cheeses, chocolates and olive oils. There’s also a sparkling wine house, brewer, picturesque golfing and indulgent spas.
Wolgan Valley
This secluded region is a 7000-acre nature and conservation reserve in the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area and just three hours’ drive from Sydney. The area offers unique insights into Australia’s wildlife, history and cultural heritage via a whole host of activities from guided horse riding to Aboriginal history tours. You’ll need to stay at the resort to explore here – the privacy is all part of the attraction.
