Kingfisher Bay Resort, K'gari (formerly Fraser Island)

Eco-friendly resort in a World Heritage listed area

Kingfisher Bay Resort is a great choice for families or couples looking for experiencing a wilderness area surrounded by nature.

K'gari (formerly known as Fraser Island) is the world’s largest sand island. With rainforests, freshwater lakes, sand dunes, beaches, an abundance of wildlife and birds, exploring is top of the agenda − 4x4 tours, walking trails, stargazing and bush tucker talks are just a few of the things to do here. Between island explorations, you can take your pick from one of the four swimming pools, play archery or indulge in a botanically-infused treatments at the Island Day Spa, all before heading down to the beach to catch one of the magical sunsets.

Why we love Kingfisher Bay Resort, K'gari (formerly Fraser Island)

  • You can learn about Australia's unique flora and fauna on guided bush walks, sample some bush tucker with the chef and go in search of some of the island's nocturnal animals on a night exploration

  • K'gari is one of Australia's best locations for whale watching - humpbacks normally pass through here from July to October

  • Conservation starts at an early age with the Junior Rangers Program where children can join guided bush walks, scavenger hunts and go stargazing

  • Kingfisher Bay Resort has been pioneering in ecotourism and guests can join rangers for a behind-the-scenes tour on how they have developed sustainability projects
