Treasures of Cambodia
Split your time between the cities of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, with full days of guided tours to get to know the highlights.

Explore Cambodia's ancient and recent history, stepping back in time as you tour the temples of Angkor and take a two-day look at the magnificence that remains of the Khmer Empire. Fast forward in time to better understand the atrocities that unfolded in the 1970s in the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum. Historic insights are balanced with a present-day look into the lives of Cambodia’s people. In Phnom Penh, you’ll enter a world of splendour in the Royal Palace, the current residence of the king. You’ll barter in local markets and tour Smiling Gecko Farmhouse supported by Kuoni’s parent company, DER Touristik, which funds the training of ten workers to give them the skills they need to earn a living over the long term.

Day 1
Phnom Penh
When you arrive in Phnom Penh, you’ll be met at the airport and taken to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to settle into your hotel and explore the city at your own pace.

Day 2
Phnom Penh
After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll head out to the Royal Palace, a splendid riverfront residence of King Sihamoni. The Silver Pagoda lies within the palace compound, named after its floor, which is covered with five tonnes of silver. Its centrepiece is the Emerald Buddha, a crystal sculpture, and a solid-gold, diamond-encrusted Buddha. Continue to visit the National Museum, Cambodia’s most extensive archaeological and cultural history museum, before visiting an ancient hilltop temple and a park at the city's centre. You’ll learn more about the atrocities inflicted by the Khmer Rouge at Toul Sleng Genocide Museum. Later in the day, visit the Art Deco Central Market or the sprawling Russian Market to barter for locally made silk, crafts, and jewellery.

Day 3
Kampong Chhnang
You’ll leave Phnom Penh after breakfast, heading northwest to Siem Reap. Your six-hour journey is broken up with a visit to Smiling Gecko for a tour of the farm and a regional lunch in the farmhouse. It’s a charity that’s directly supported by Kuoni’s parent company, DER Touristik, to help address poverty in rural Cambodia through school and training.

Day 4
Angkor Thom and Angkor Wat
Exploring the Phsat Krom Market in the morning is a great way to gain insight into local life in Siem Reap. Afterwards, you'll step back in time to the Khmer Empire, arriving at Angkor Thom via the South Gate, overlooked by giant statues. You'll head to Bayon, a temple famous for its 54 towers with over 200 smiling stone faces of Avolokitesvara. Spend the rest of your morning discovering more about the era's culture, religion, and grandeur by exploring other temples and sites in Angkor Thom. Later in the afternoon, you'll visit Ta Prohm, an intriguing temple enveloped by jungle roots and foliage. End the day by visiting Angkor Wat, the most famous temple in the area, and considered a prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture.

Day 5
Temples of Angkor
Explore Prasat Kravan early in the morning when the sun's rays illuminate its intricate reliefs, showcasing its beauty. Afterwards, marvel at the enchanting Neak Pean fountain, surrounded by tranquil pools, and wander through the impressive Preah Khan temple's labyrinthine corridors. In the afternoon, you’ll be awed by the magnificent Banteay Srei temple, renowned for its exceptional classical Khmer art. Take a break from temple touring to visit a local village where you can meet families who make delectable palm sugar. Then, visit the striking Banteay Samre, one of Angkor's most complete complexes, before heading to Phnom Bakheng, where you can watch the sunset over Angkor Wat.

Day 6
Siem Reap
You’ll depart the hotel after breakfast, heading to the airport for your onward journey.
