The Elgin Mount Pandim was first owned by Sikkim’s royal family and has an enviable position overlooking the snow-capped mountains of the Himalaya.
The hotel regularly hosts celebrities, heads of state and royalty who love the serenity of its location and its close proximity to the Pemayangtse Monastery. There are plenty of treks to explore the surrounding forests and mountains and it is a wonderful place for bird watching with rufous-gorgeted flycatcher and green-tailed sunbirds some of the colourful species found here. After exploring the mountains, you may wish to view them from the comfort of the massage table in the hotel’s spa. Some of the traditions of The Elgin's royal heritage are still maintained with high tea served with home-made cakes and pastries on the lawn.
Why we love The Elgin Mount Pandim
-
All of the rooms have an extraordinary view of the mountains and the forests
-
The décor is Sikkimese style created by regional artists using locally sourced dark wood, furniture and carpets
-
The landscape is a haven for birds, red pandas, deer and mountain dwelling black bears
-
From your hilltop location enjoy spectacular 360-degree views of the Himalayan range that’s especially beautiful at sunset

The wood-panelled Magnolia Dining Room offers and elegant setting for European and Asian dishes. Retire to the Tea Lounge and Oak Bar where you can meet fellow guests around the roaring fire.
Aromatherapy massages, green tea and lemon grass body scrubs and a range of beauty treatments are available at the spa.
Hiking is a popular activity here and the trek from Yuksom to Dzongri, takes you on a high-altitude trail through forests of rhododendron, over a stunning river and to spectacular viewpoints of the giant Himalayan peaks. Mountain bikes can be rented. Next to the hotel is the 300-year-old Pemayangtse Monastery.
