Built with the surrounding cliffs of the Al Hajar Mountains and the valley (wadi) below in mind, the spa at Al Bustan Palace offers a range of luxurious treatments in a traditional Omani setting. Domed ceilings arch above natural stone walls and trickling water channels, and there are separate areas for men and women. 17 treatment rooms, infrared saunas and a yoga studio feature in this Arabian-style fort, while the ladies-only area includes an ice shower, private club and pool

Take a guided kayak tour to a local village, go in search of dolphins at Marina Bandar Al Rowdha, visit the green sea turtle reserve at Ras Al Jinz or head inland to a desert safari camp to sleep out in the Wahiba Sands.

There are five swimming pools and a private stretch of beach. There are plenty of dive sites nearby and the Bandar Al Khayran Reserve is just a 30-minute boat trip away.

The Ritz Kids Program has a range of activities including art, cooking and learning about sustainability. Children can also have their own indoor camping experience where a pirate or princess tent is set up in their room.
