This luxury treetop safari lodge is located on the border of Tanzania’s acclaimed Tarangire National Park.
Elewana Tarangire Treetops is a luxury safari lodge on the border of Tanzania’s acclaimed Tarangire National Park. The area is renowned for its baobab tree population and some of the largest herds of elephant in Africa. The treetop lodge features elevated treehouse suites set among the branches of ancient baobab and marula trees.
Day and night game drives go in search of the park's abundant wildlife including lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and zebra. You can also take walking safaris with a Maasai guide who’ll teach you about the area’s flora and fauna.
Why we love Elewana Tarangire Treetops
-
The views continue from the infinity pool and restaurant, which overlooks the watering hole where you’ll often spot elephants, buffalo, hippos and zebra
-
As well as large herds of elephant, giraffe and big cats, the birdlife at Tarangire is prolific with 500 species identified
-
Don’t miss sundowners from the aptly named Sunset Hill. Every afternoon, you can enjoy watching the sunset over the national park with Lake Manyara in the distance
-
The barbecue boma evenings are a big part of Treetops and also a showcase of traditional Maasai songs and dance, with a blazing bonfire and lanterns hanging from the trees
Our Expert Tips
Maasai culture, game drives and walking safaris at Tarangire Treetops
When you stay at Tarangire Treetops, you’ll get to explore the area on game drives and walking safaris, as well as get an insight into traditional Maasai life. The lodge lies on a private reserve on the edge of Tarangire National Park, which is the sixth largest in the country and famous for its impressive baobab trees. They are proud to have a close connection with the local culture and many of their guides hail from the Maasai community.
Sundowners at Tarangire Treetops
At Tarangire Treetops, there is a special sundowner spot called Sunset Hill, where you can enjoy a chilled drink while watching the sky transform with dramatic shades of orange and pink. After a day of exploring nearby Tarangire National Park, which is home to some of the largest elephant herds on the continent, there’s nothing better than taking a moment to sit back, relax and enjoy the iconic African sunset.
