Long Lee Manor lies at the heart of Shamwari Private Game Reserve in South Africa’s Eastern Cape and is a perfect extension to a tour of the Garden Route.

Long Lee Manor gives its guests a different experience to the rest of the Shamwari Game Reserve. A luxury restored Edwardian Manor House originally built in 1910, it overlooks the busy plains of Shamwari, where you can sit on the manicured lawns and watch the wildlife. Following its renovation, a spa with three treatment rooms for post-game drive massages, a fitness centre and a large rim-flow pool overlooking the water hole complete with a poolside bar.

For those guests that want to take it easy, treatments are available in the Relaxation Retreat. If you are feeling energetic, you can work out in the fitness centre.

Between game drives you can go on a tour to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and Born Free Big Cat Sanctuaries. This is also one of the best times to go on a guided bush walk with a ranger.

Wildlife conservation is at the heart of Shamwari. There are two Born Free sanctuaries where visitors can see and learn about the stories behind the rescued big cats that can spend the rest of the lives in nature rather than in a cage. The Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre rescues injured animals with the aim to reintroduce them into the wild.
