The Majlis - where passion fruit mojitos and a laidback mindset are order of the day.
The Majlis is located on Manda Island in the Lamu archipelago and offers panoramic views of Lamu Island and the Ras Kitau beach. Conveniently located in front of Shela Village, this boutique hotel feels more like a family home with furnishings collected by its Italian owners. Hike or cycle across to the Tawaka ruins, go kayaking or explore the fascinating Lamu town before returning to relax at the hotel's pool before deciding which of the hotel's three restaurants to dine in.

Facilities
There’s simply no choice but to be a foodie here with small bars and restaurants dotted around the hotel offering Japanese, Italian, Indian and Swahili dishes. The catch of the day– red snapper for example – is never boring, served two ways smothered in garlic butter, or flavoured with paprika, chilli and cumin.
The spa offers a range of treatments and massages can take place there or on the beachfront. For those who wish to be active there is jogging along the beach or along a number of trails. A personal trainer is available to accompany you if required. There are two gyms - one with fitness equipment, the other is a 'jungle gym' set in the garden.
Rent one of the hotel's mountain bikes to explore the area, take a trip to the Tana River Delta which is a haven for wildlife, visit the Takwa Ruins or explore UNESCO World Heritage site of Lamu Town.
There are two swimming pools at the hotel although most guests head to the beach to try the many watersports at Ras Kitau Bay. Try water skiing, wakeboarding, windsurfing and kitesurfing. There are daily snorkelling trips to Kiniyka Island and Manda Toto Island and there are kayaks to explore the mangroves.
